Vans “Off The Wall”
(Motion 3D)(motion, branding, Cinema 4D, typography, ad, After Effects)
Content: Vans. Designed for the creative pursuit of you. For this project, we were to pick a brand and create a motion piece based on their already established branding values. I chose Vans considering I own quite a few pairs of them and I enjoy the feel of their brand creates. Within this project my typography was rendered and created in Cinema 4D, with the rest of my 2D assets being created in After Effects. Within this piece, I wanted to bring the spirit of Vans to the forefront using their font, in. bright bold colors, showcasing the different colors they offer.
Process: Due to the fact the Cinema 4D is such a large program, I had to reach out to my professor for help with rendering. I began by sketching by hand and when I got to the computer, I began with my 3D typography, then created the Vans shoe vector, and lastly, made my shoes walk. It was important for me to work on my 3D assets first because they took way longer to render and create.
Takeaways: Within this project, I learned to simplify my concepts when it comes to 3D animation and to leave plenty of time in my schedule available for rendering. It is important to create one simple well crafted concept then to try and create something entirely too complicated within the time frame given.
